I just finished installing wordpress for my Nokia E71 and now trying to post a new blog about it. But then since it is on its beta stage, I can’t expect much.
Good!
1. Smooth transition of GUI.
2. Simple and easy to use.

Bad!
1. Distorted images/texts (screenshots below)
2. When making new posts, scrolling up and down quickly goes to the body, title bar or the add photos button. Which makes it difficult if you want to re-edit or delete your words. You need to use the left/right nav key to go back. It’s very tedious if your post is quite long. Maybe pressing the center nav key first before going to a different tab will do the job.

Let’s see how it works after I submit this post.

vHome Voyager Home Screen

I am back in blogging. Today will be a Voyager Home Screen day. Have any of you heard about it? What it does is amazing. It allows you to customize your home screen to practically anything you want it to be. This comes very handy to those who like to multi-task. Here are some of my own screenshots.

Getting this application though might be tedious but its definitely worth getting. Besides, it is for FREE. You can try to google it and tons of queries will pop up. Once you get it downloaded, save it in your desktop. Next thing to do is to sign the application with your own IMEI. This process is now very easy to do so long as you already have an account via OPDA.cn. Click on the english forum and then the apply certificate tab on the right top part of the site. Once you get to this screen you will need to register(first time user) or log-in(existing user). You will now need to key in your IMEI, email and other details. They will then prompt you that your certificate is now available for use. Just browse for the application which you have previously saved and click sign application. Download the signed application, and send it to your phone via bluetooth. From your inbox select the message you’ve just sent and proceed with the installation. Make sure you set your from your application manager the software installation to ALL.

New Opera Mini 5 Beta

I just got the New Opera Mini 5, beta release. This is way better than the previous version that im using. With cut/copy/paste within the page plus password manager and a whole lot more. You’ve got to try it to believe it. Just direct your phone browser to http://m.opera.com and install the new version. To follow are the screenshots for I am using my mobile now. Cheers!

The Best Cases in Town!

I just hopped in the train from Toa Payoh Central. I visited my favorite shop for all my phone accessories, itech mobile. So far, it’s the only shop here in Singapore that sells high standard cases for my E71. Although their shop is quite small, they have a lot for you to choose from. Most of the good ones are for Blackberry, IPhone, Samsung and Nokia E series phones. Here is the one which I just bought and the rest are for you to check out! Cheers!

MECANTO

Hi there everyone! I’m up and back to blogging about what is new on my mobile device. Have any of you tried MECANTO ? This is a music player that you need to install in your phone and your pc. This works by synchconizing whatever songs you have in your pc then allows you to play it back to your device wirelessly anywhere you are. The only condition is that you need to be logged in from your PC. Your computer must be turned on if you want to stream all your music. It does not seem to logical to me but I hope they can improve on this since it is still on Beta mode. It’s quite useful on my part because I don’t have a lot of space in my SD card to store all my mp3s. This solves my problem and plus all I need to have is a wifi signal or a flatrate 3G subscription. Can’t install applications on your E71?

Certificate error! Have you encountered this message while you are trying to install applications on your E71? If this is the first time that you are going to try and get a third party application for your device, then the settings must be the problem. Unless the file your downloading is a corrupted file, this should solve the issue. First, you need to go to Menu, then Installation, and then Application Manager. After this, you press Option, then Settings. In here you will see Software Installation. If you see SIGNED ONLY under it, you will need to change it to ALL. This will allow installation of software although it is not signed. You may now start filling up your phone with tons of free applications from symbian developers.

Signing the application means, attaching the software application with your IMEI. This process is quite complicated as well. Some very good free applications asks you to do this process. If you need any help when you encounter this issue, let me know so I can guide you.

EyeCall

I came across this application over at the ovi store. The application is called EyeCall. Some of the mobile phone comes with a function that allows you to snooze your alarm and mute your calls just by waving your hands over the phone. Some of them by turning the phone upside down. This is not what E71 has, so what EyeSight did was to make use of the front camera to mimic the same function. Once the application is turned ON it will run in the background. So every time you receive a call in a middle of a discussion or meeting and your phone is on top of the table, you can just wave your hand on top of the phone and it will automatically mute the ringer. But another special thing that it does is the automatic SMS. It means, if you receive a call, you have the option of waving your hand over it to silent the phone or place your hand on top of your phone for 4-5 seconds and it will automatically send a pre-defined customizable message to whoever is calling you. The only thing though that might stop you from getting this application is, that it’s not for free. It costs around SGD7. As for me, I find it quite useful and it somehow prolongs my battery life. You’ll know once you get it. You may purchase it at the ovi store under the download menu in your E71. Just search for the application or get it directly from the EyeSight website. now testing FRING

I have just downloaded FRING on my e71 and I have yet to test how it works. I am not sure how to navigate around the application but I’ll be playing with it for a while. Bye to Palringo first. Since I have been using Palringo as my chat client most of the time, this time it will be very different. I also came across a poll on which mobile chat client most e71 users use, and the result on top among palringo, nimbuss , msn and skype was Fring. So I’ll go and try it first. Will let you know soon it it’s worth installing.

where do I get my themes?

The website that I go to for most of my themes is http:// www.symbianthemes.us/ . In here, you will need to have a symbian powered phone with a barcode reader . You can find this application under the Menu, inside the Tools folder. This application opens the camera and makes it a barcode reader. Once the application is on, just point your camera to the code and wait for the box to enclose the code. Once this happens, the color of the box will become green then it will re-direct you to the link to download the theme. Just open the browser then install the theme. There you have it, your new theme is ready to be used under the themes menu. Remember to point your phone to the code and it will give you the download link. You can also choose to save the data just in case you want to share the link to your friends. Just make sure that you have Wi-Fi conne c ti o n f o r you to be abl e t o access the file. If you find it hard to capture the code, try clicking on the code to view it on blank white background. This one is my favorite theme. Click on this link Three (by thememakerBABI) or use your barcode reader. Check it out.
